Boyd Elder
Texas
Born in El Paso in 1944, Boyd Elder was raised there and on the family ranch in Valentine, soaking up West Texas culture and his Native American and Mexican roots. He is perhaps most notorious as the creator of the painted and adorned bull and eagle skulls depicted on the covers of two multi-million-selling albums by the rock group Eagles (One of These Nights and Their Greatest Hits – 1971-1976 in 1975 and 1976). Boyd Elder experiments with conventional mediums in unconventional ways to express his unique creative vision.
