Jonathan Ryan Harvey is a self-taught contemporary artist that portrays moods, feelings and the meaning of words visually using a language of colors, shapes, and form. He has been obsessed with making art as far back as he can remember. Starting at around 7 years old, he used pencil to draw characters from various graphic novels and 80’s Japanese Anime. In his adolescence, he gravitated towards the hip-hop culture which spawned a love for graffiti art. His first job was at the MOCA San Diego which was a powerful introduction into the world of contemporary art, elevating his ambition to be an artist. Harvey creates his work through experimentation, often letting the exciting blend of mediums or the unfamiliarity of new materials fuel his creativity.
